Haibei Wang

ABOUT HAIBEI

Haibei Wang is a New York–based composer working across film, musical theatre, and video games, known for integrating cinematic language with theatrical storytelling. Her work blends orchestral writing with contemporary production, creating emotionally driven scores that move fluidly between screen and stage.

She co-composed the feature film Liar, Liar, Love Is on Fire with Yixin Huang, and her film scores have premiered at international festivals including SXSW, TIFF, AFMA, and SFFILM. Additional credits include Panda Plan (starring Jackie Chan) and Honey Money Phony, for which she contributed additional music. Her work spans a wide range of genres, including drama, horror, and animation.

In musical theatre, she is the composer and orchestrator of the Chinese original musical The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which premiered in Shanghai in its world premiere run from November 27 to December 15, 2025, with subsequent performances scheduled in 2026. Her approach to musical theatre emphasizes a cinematic sensibility, treating voice and instrumentation as a unified expressive system.

Haibei was selected for the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop and the Vancouver International Film Festival Composer–Filmmaker Accelerator, where her work was recorded with live orchestra and premiered internationally. She is also a recipient of the Alliance for Women Film Composers mentorship.

Originally from China, Haibei brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work, continuing to develop projects across film, theatre, and games with a focus on large-scale narrative storytelling.
